Watches are a wonderful accessory that has been used for decades, being purchased in all shapes and sizes with a whole host of different designs that have been carefully crafted by some of the most expensive brands in the world. The pricing of high-end watches is now more extraordinary than ever, it’s incredible to think that a small accessory that has a purpose of telling you the time, the date and in some cases the temperature can be worth millions of pounds.
5. Patek Phillipe Henry Graves Supercomplication – $24 million
In at number five is the 18-karat gold watch, amassed by Patek Phillipe. He named the watch after Henry Graves Jr custom-made it in the wish to outperform the Grande Complication pocket watch who was produced by American automaker James Ward Packard. Both inventors were recognised as being the best in the business as they continued to strive at the top of their game, collecting various watches between them and creating incredible new pieces. The watch took altogether 8 years to complete from start to finish, with the design taking three years and the manufacturing of it a staggering five. On January 19, 1933, the watch was sent to Henry Graves and became the worlds leading complicated mechanical time clock for over 50 years, totalling over 24 variances in functionality.
4. Chopard 201-Carat Watch – $25 million
Chopard, famous for producing iconic watches that comfortably sit above many. The company boasts a sense of uniqueness with their designs and incredible quality, each of their products has its own sole trademark which separates the finish from the other watches. The 201 carat Chopard watch is a classic example of this since it’s introduction in 2000 it shifted the tables in the watches market, it’s luxurious and colourful design, sure enough, set the bar for the majority. The watch features a variety of superlative coloured diamonds in all shapes and sizes that make up the base of the front of the watch, leaving it unbelievably aesthetically pleasing on the eye. At the centre of the masterpiece, you’ll find a flawless heart-shaped diamond in pink, these alone weighs 15.37 carats, there is also a 12.79-carat heart diamond in a wonderful shade of blue. 3. Breguet No. 160 – $30 million
Now into the top three, the Breguet No. 160 grand complication which is also known as the Marie-Antoinette or the Queen, was designed by Abraham-Louis Breguet who was a Swiss watchmaker. The watch itself has been recognised as an ‘a poem in clockwork’ due to its powerful appearance, the manufacturing of the watch started in 1782 but Breguet passed away 1823 leaving his son to complete the watch in 1827. If you recall the novel ‘The Grand Complication by Allen Kurzweil, you’ll realise that this watch is the central point of the plot in the novel. In terms of the construction of the watch, it was set to boast every function possible for a watch at that specific time, it included: Clock, chime, independent seconds hand, pare-chute, chronograph, minute repeater, thermometer and a perpetual calendar. A remarkable make-up for that period.
2. Graff Diamonds, The Fascination – $40 million
In as the runner-up is the Graff Diamonds, The Fascination. The watch is encrusted with 152.96 carats of premium white diamonds with an interchangeable 38.13ct ‘D Flawless’ diamond in the shape of a pear. The diamond can be used as the centrepiece of the watch and used as a glowing bracelet or be positioned into a bespoke shank and used as a glamorous ring. the price tag really does justify the creation, mirroring Graff’s inventiveness and second to none expertise. The Graff Diamonds chairman and founder, Laurence Graff, was instrumental in the design and production of the piece, the thought process was based around the collaboration between the jewellery house’s London & Swiss ateliers. This stunning product was released only back in 2015, making it the ‘youngest’ watch on this list!

We’re at number one and at this staggering price you’d expect there to be something incredibly special about the Graff Diamonds Hallucination if one Graff Diamonds product wasn’t enough on this list well this beauty will surely have your eyes fixed to the screen. The most valuable watch ever created boasts 110 carats of unbelievable rare, big coloured diamonds that are set into a bracelet of platinum. Some colours come in: Fancy intense pink, Fancy Vivid yellow, Fancy light pink, Fancy intense blue, Fancy light grey-blue, Fancy intense blue, Fancy green and Fancy orange. Various cuts are used too, such as pear shape, marquise, heart shape, radiant, round and emerald. For the actual timepiece itself, the quartz dial is extremely tiny as it sits in the centre of the bracelet, surrounded by sparkling pink diamonds. It would be fair to say that the Graff Diamonds Hallucination is a sculpture of elegance and beauty, showcasing how wonderful diamonds really are on the eye.
